Olly celebrates Silver at The Nationals!

Players from across the country have battled it out at regional qualifiers for the right to reach this final stage. Club player Olly Tyndall was representing not only Gloucestershire but also the South West Regionin the under 12's event. After recording three 3-0 wins in his group and a 3-0 win over Max Webster in the first round he had to go up a gear after dropping a game to Harry Dai in the quarters coming back to win 3 -1. He then had to battle all the way in the semi-final against Ethan Walsh in a five-game thriller.

Olly breathed a sigh of relief at clinching a dramatic

3-2 (11-8, 7-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-6) win. In the final he met top seed Alex Ramsden who was outstanding. Quick to everything on the table, Ramsden consistently picked up shots early and whipped them low over the net giving Olly no chance as he flew into a 2-0 (11-3, 11-3) lead. Although Olly fought back in the third to lead 9-8, a superb defensive point from Ramsden was finished off with counter-attacking forehands as he took his third game 11-9.
