Western Masters

Darren Does the Double

The Veteran Western Masters was held at Hereford Leisure Centre on the weekend of 11/12 January 2014.

With Darren Griffin seeded 5=, it was going to be tough for him to lift the title in the Over 40's category.

However, Griffin reached the final which was against the number 1 seed, Tomaz Rseszotco from Cheshire. It was a topsy-turvy final with each player winning their games comfortably, until in the 4th set with Darren 2-1 down but 10-5 up, Tomaz had to retire when he fell, dislocating his knee cap. It was a shame because it was anyone's game had it gone to a deciding set.

In the Over 40's Doubles competition Darren was playing with Adrian Pilgrim (seeded 2 in the singles). Darren and Adrian again lifted this title for the second year running.
